The journey begins with a drive to Sundarijal, a popular getaway at the edge of Shivapuri National Park. From here, you mount your horse and follow a peaceful motorable road, ascending gently through a refreshing landscape of waterfalls, pine groves, and terraced fields. The day ends in Chisapani (2,165m), a quiet hilltop village known for its wide Himalayan views and cool mountain air.
On the second day, you ride through scenic trails leading toward Nagarkot, one of Nepals most beloved viewpoints. The path takes you along forested ridges, offering glimpses of daily rural life and panoramic views of mountains including Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and even Mt. Everest on a clear day. Nagarkot (2,175m) is famous for its sunrise and sunset views, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day in the saddle.
Your final day starts with a gentle descent toward the ancient town of Changu Narayan, home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Nepals oldest surviving temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After exploring this rich cultural treasure, you drive back to Kathmandu with your heart full of mountain magic, traditional culture, and unforgettable horseback memories.

Day by Day
Full Itinerary
You will start the day with a morning drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, the gateway to Shivapuri National Park. Upon arrival in Sundarijal, you will meet your horses and begin an uphill ride along a quiet dirt road, passing through lush forests, waterfalls, and traditional villages. The trail is peaceful and shaded by pine and rhododendron trees, offering beautiful views along the way. By afternoon, you will reach Chisapani (2,165m) and check in at a local lodge. In the evening, you can relax and take in the stunning sunset views over the Himalayas.
Today, after breakfast, we will begin a scenic horse ride along the ridgeline trail from Chisapani to Nagarkot (2,175m). The journey takes us through peaceful forests, open hills, and picturesque hillside villages with views of terraced farmland. Along the way, well stop for lunch at a local teahouse. By late afternoon, we will arrive in Nagarkot and check in to a comfortable hotel. In the evening, you can either walk or ride to a nearby viewpoint to enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Himalayan range.
Nagarkot is one of the best places to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayan range. You will wake up early to enjoy the stunning morning view. After breakfast, begin your ride downhill toward Changu Narayan, following scenic forest trails and passing through traditional Newar villages along the way. Upon reaching Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient stone carvings and religious importance, youll have time to explore the temple complex and enjoy your final moments with your horse. Afterward, say farewell to your guide and horse team, then you will drive ba’ck to Kathmandu.
